The firm

“If I can't explain it to you, it's because I haven't understood it well enough myself.”

A chartered professional accountant since 2001, Marie-Claude spent six years at a large firm in Sainte-Foy before opening her own on Jean-Talon street. She wanted an office where people walk in with a box of receipts and walk out without feeling embarrassed about their questions.

The firm now has three people: Marie-Claude on tax and corporate files, Simon Filion, CPA, on bookkeeping and financial statements, and Josée on payroll and remittances. You always talk to the same person, year after year.

Simon Filion, CPA
Bookkeeping · financial statements

He loves overdue files: three years of receipts in a grocery bag is his playground.

Josée Nadeau
Payroll · GST-QST · remittances

She's the one who calls you before a deadline, not Revenu Québec after.

Who we work with

Individuals

Simple or complex returns: rental income, capital gains, HBP, separation, estates, retirement.

Self-employed

Eligible expenses, home office, instalments, GST-QST: we bring order and plan ahead.

SMEs and shops

From two to thirty employees: payroll, financial statements, cash-flow budgets and monthly follow-up.

Incorporation

Is it worth incorporating? We run the numbers with your real figures before advising you.

How it works

In person, or without leaving home

  • 1 Free first meeting, 45 minutes. We look at your situation, tell you what needs doing and how much it costs. No obligation.
  • 2 Your documents, your way. Secure portal, encrypted email, or the good old cardboard folder dropped off at the office.
  • 3 We explain before filing. In person, by phone or by video call — your choice, never imposed.
  • 4 We're still here after. A CRA letter in September? You call, it's included in our fees.

Confidentiality: your files are kept in Quebec, on an encrypted server, and never shared. Marie-Claude and Simon are members in good standing of the Ordre des CPA du Québec and bound by its code of ethics.

Dates you shouldn't miss

We write to you two weeks before each one. You don't have to remember them — that's our job.

Feb. 28

Deadline for RL-1 and T4 slips to employees.

Mar. 2

Last day to contribute to your RRSP for the previous tax year.

Apr. 30

Personal tax returns, and payment of balance owing even if filing later.

Jun. 15

Self-employed individuals' returns and their spouse's.

Quarters

Instalment payments: March 15, June 15, September 15 and December 15.

6 months

Corporate filing deadline after fiscal year-end — the tax balance itself is due in three months.

Frequently asked questions

The four we get asked every week. The rest, we cover at the first meeting.

Is it worth incorporating?

Often not before $90,000 to $110,000 in profit, if you withdraw it all to live on. We run the numbers with your real figures, for free, before selling you anything.

I'm two years behind on my returns. Is that serious?

It's fixable, and more common than you'd think. We file the missing years in order and negotiate a payment arrangement if needed. No one will lecture you here.

Which receipts do I need to keep?

Six years, everything related to your income and business expenses. We give you a one-page list tailored to your situation at the first meeting.

I'm coming from another accountant. Is switching complicated?

No. With your authorization, we request the file transfer and access to My Account. You won't have to have an awkward conversation with your old firm.
